Demolition Kit, Bangalore Torpedo M1A2

NOTICE OF PROPOSED PROCUREMENT Canada has a requirement for the items detailed below: GSIN: N1375 – Demolition Materials UNSPSC: 46101600 –Ammunition Description: Demolition Kit, Bangalore Torpedo M1A2 A requirement exists to resupply Canada with the Demolition Kit, Bangalore Torpedo M1A2. The Demolition Kit, Bangalore Torpedo M1A2 is required as a specialized explosive charge used by combat engineers to breach barbed wire obstacles/entanglements and to clear a path through anti-personnel mines, without requiring personnel to approach the obstacle directly under fire. The system consists of several cylindrical sections of tubes/pipes that can be connected end-to end to create a linear explosive charge of desired length. A blunt, rounded nose sleeve is attached to the leading end of the assembly, allowing the torpedo to be pushed or shoved through obstacles, such as concertina wire or across rough terrain, without snagging. The Demolition Kit, Bangalore Torpedo M1A2 is primed with a blasting cap. When detonated, the pipe itself contributes to the effect: the metal casing fractures into high-velocity fragments that shred the surrounding wire, while the explosive blast clears a path for infantry to advance.
